It is 2023 and i am starting a blog on fitness. I know blogs are totally out of style but i -- don't -- care --!!! I like to write, and i like to read, and lately the internet isn't very keen on reading. I like to read people's progress during whatever, and i like to read about their lives and what not. Most things these days are in video format, which can also be fine, but now that TikTok has come on the market everything has gone to sh!t.
Not only that, but the entire fitness industry seems very pornofied and sexualized and fake. Women constantly squatting with their big (fake?) asses in the camera and men having circle jerks with each other on who has the biggest pecs or whatever. It feels so artificial and fake. The worst for me is when i am researching certain work-outs for women and i don't know if the lady who i am looking at has had plastic surgery or wears butt pads, so i am not even sure if their work-out routines are actually working, and for men i never know if they use steroids or not. It is very tiring.
Everyone also seems to want to work-out for TikToks and youtube videos and what not, instead of actually educating people on fitness. They also always try to sell you on something, so even reading an article can sometimes be misleading. And sometimes the ones who are genuine are difficult to spot since genuine people on the internet these days seem rare.
I have, however, found a few social media channels that i actually enjoy and that are very informative and for me those two are mainly Jeremy Ethier and LeanBeefPatty. I only follow them on Youtube and i don't consume their content elsewhere. I know Patty is big on TikTok and stuff but i don't use TikTok. I sometimes look up some of her workouts on her IG but that is about it. Jeremy Ethier is overall just very informative. I also watch the occasional Jeff Nippard, Scott Herman, and Bret Contreras video. I also like MovementbyDavid's short videos about STAYING FLEXY!!! And i put on the occasional Will Tennyson video cause i find him entertaining. I've also watched some Sean Nalewanyj videos but i find him very annoying, i don't know why, but some people might find him informative so i am sharing him here anyways.
It is difficult finding female fitness people that i actually like since most of them (i feel) sexualize themselves too much and feel very fake, which is why i like Patty so much since she seems humble and not so self-obsessed. We are also the same height and share kind of the same background story, so it is nice being able to find myself in her fitness journey.
Soooo yeah, i thought i would start a fitness blog in the year of 2023 to keep track of my progress and maybe someone else one day will stumble upon this and it will help them out too. Right now i am kind of lost in the sea of information that is out there, so i will take you on a journey where i try to figure out what works and what doesn't work (for me) (it might not work for you) (please keep that in mind!!!).
If you also are starting your fitness journey i would urge you to stop going on social media and comparing yourself with everyone out there, most of those people have been training for years to get where they are now so it isn't healthy comparing yourself with them at all! Never consume content from people who make you feel bad about yourself! Instead, start a blog like me (so i don't have to feel so lonely) and write about your journey and inform and educate others on what you have learned and spread the knowledge!
